What are you VERY about? The question sparked the launch of WE ARE VERY's community app.
It started as a simple question at our polaroid booth at localization conferences. 100 impromptu portraits and eight weeks later, it's a platform.
Los Angeles, February 2026 — WE ARE VERY, the LA-based multilingual content creation and localization company, launches a community app.
The idea came from LocWorld54 in Monterey, California, where WE ARE VERY set up a booth with a simple question: What are you very about? Attendees wrote down answers and posed for polaroid portraits. Nearly 100 attendees participated, writing answers and posing for Polaroid portraits.
"People didn't just write down something clever and move on," said Rinaldo Dieziger, founder of WE ARE VERY. "They stopped. They got personal. Strangers connected over their answers. That's when I realized the question had a gravity we hadn't anticipated."
The question itself is embedded in the brand's DNA. When Dieziger rebranded the company in 2024 after acquiring the US subsidiary from Swiss parent Supertext, he looked at his team and made a list of who they are: very into cats, very tennis crazy, very opinionated, very multilingual. Then he stripped everything away and kept only the thread that ran through all of it: WE ARE VERY.
"The name clicked instantly when Rinaldo presented it," said Kristy Sakai, CEO of WE ARE VERY. "But what surprised us was how other people responded to it. On merch, at events, even on the website — everyone immediately filled in the blank. They made it theirs. The brand was asking a question we hadn't consciously designed it to ask."
Eight weeks after LocWorld54, the WE ARE VERY Community App is live.
Very community. Very real life.
The platform is built around a simple mechanic: declare what you're very about, and you're in a community. Join groups, start new ones, have conversations, organize events, meet people in person.
The app deliberately breaks with conventional social media patterns. There are no follower counts. Instead of a like button, posts receive contextual reactions — VERY Cool, VERY Interesting, VERY Sad, VERY Nice — giving every interaction more texture. Events are a core feature, not an add-on: every community can host meetups, workshops, or adventures.
"We wanted to build a social platform where the end goal isn't more screen time," said Dieziger. "It's finding your people and actually doing something together. Online and offline."
The app is available on iOS, Android, and web and is built with React, Expo, and Supabase.
From language to identity
WE ARE VERY was founded as Supertext in Zurich in 2005 and expanded to the US in 2016, where Sakai has led operations as CEO. The company provides content creation, localization, and multimedia services to international clients, and recently launched a multilingual editor platform for content teams.
A community app is new territory — but the company sees it as a natural extension. "We've spent 20 years helping brands say who they are across languages and cultures," said Sakai. "The community app does the same thing for individuals. It gives people a way to articulate who they are and find others who share that identity."
WE ARE VERY is independent and operates without venture capital.
